2019 & 2020 Real Ghostbusters of Australia Conferences

The first Real Ghostbusters Conference was held in Melbourne from May 24th to the 26th, 2019. The event brought together a range of speakers presenting different perspectives on ghost and haunting activity, combining psychic practice, case studies and scientific approaches to paranormal investigation.

In 2019, Vlad served as one of the hosts of the conference while Cherie-Roquelle attended as a guest participant. By the following year, at the 2020 event, both joined the team of hosts alongside others. Cherie-Roquelle served as a medium host, while Vlad contributed as the scientific paranormal investigator.

The 2019 conference featured:

• Three real-life ghostbusters who specialised in clearing hauntings in buildings and locations.
• One practitioner who worked specifically with entity attachments affecting individuals.
• A scientific investigator and researcher examining paranormal phenomena from an analytical perspective.

Speakers discussed a wide range of topics including real cases of hauntings in Australia, the possible causes of hauntings and the nature of ghosts, methods used to clear locations, and the effects that long-term hauntings or negative entity attachments can have on individuals. Presentations also explored scientific research into paranormal activity, ways to protect oneself from negative entity attachments, factors that may make individuals more vulnerable to attachments, and the importance of self-care for psychic practitioners working in the field. Another topic examined how accurately popular films portray the spirit world and how these depictions influence public perception.

Both conferences also included live paranormal investigations. During the 2019 conference, participants conducted an investigation at the Brighton Beach Hotel, allowing attendees to observe investigative methods and equipment used in the field.

A particularly memorable experience occurred during the 2020 conference at the Mount Martha Homestead. During a group investigation, several participants witnessed what appeared to be an apparition moving across part of the room. The moment was especially striking because a trigger object placed during the investigation reacted in a way that appeared to validate the activity, along with other unexplained occurrences reported during the night.

The 2020 conference itself unfolded during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. After venue cancellations and travel disruptions, the talks were ultimately held online, yet the event still proved to be a memorable and enjoyable experience for both presenters and attendees.

Media coverage surrounding the project and its investigators included an interview featuring Dr Vladimir Dubaj on ABC Radio Melbourne:

The conferences brought together practitioners, researchers and curious observers interested in exploring the intersection between spiritual practice, scientific inquiry and firsthand investigation of reported paranormal phenomena.
